One Turn Kill Skills: Effects, Synergies, and Tier List

One Turn Kill skills are one-use combat tools that reset each encounter to manipulate your hand, deck, and enemy turns. You unlock them as post-combat draft choices and BIAS milestone rewards to secure single-turn victories. Because ending your turn without defeating the opponent results in an immediate loss, your skill selection determines whether high-cost loops succeed or fizzle out.

What Are Skills in One Turn Kill?

Skills are single-use active abilities located at the bottom of the combat interface that function completely separate from your 20-card deck. Unlike regular attack and support cards, skills do not draw cards to pay for an energy cost. They reset at the start of each stage, allowing you to use every skill currently in your possession once per fight without consuming deck resources.

You collect skills by picking one reward after defeating an enemy or by clearing total BIAS difficulty thresholds before departing on a run. Clearing BIAS 10 lets you start a run with one skill already equipped, while BIAS 15 unlocks the full skill pool. In player guides on Note.com, community researcher Zent130 notes that while players can freely edit their card decks, the skill pool draft relies on RNG during reward screens, making early skill choices crucial for late-game consistency.

Certain cards interact directly with your equipped abilities. The support card backdoor copies and triggers the effect of the skill you used most recently. If you pair Backdoor with high-value skills, you can duplicate key effects multiple times in a single fight.

Full Skills List and Effects

Every skill in One Turn Kill serves a distinct purpose, from generating extra deck buffer to copying fully boosted cards.

Which Skills Provide the Highest Value?

Skill viability shifts drastically as you raise the BIAS difficulty meter across successive loops. In early runs, raw damage from Bomb helps push past low-health guards, but higher difficulties demand card multiplication, deck recovery, and action delay.

Double is the strongest active skill in One Turn Kill. It duplicates a selected card in your hand, keeping any attack bonuses already applied by Nelker's Experiment or Intuition while clearing seal markers. When combined with the Backdoor card, Double lets you chain copies of unsealed finish attacks to hit damage thresholds above 600 against late-game bosses.

Downclock freezes the enemy encounter for three card plays. This effect is mandatory during the battle against the machine soldier D-rex, whose unique mechanic imposes a real-time defeat timer of roughly 40 seconds. Freezing the action gives you time to calculate draw costs without taking a fatal blow. Downclock also halts turn-based triggers against the swordsman Bulk, preventing him from sealing cards before you execute your main offensive loop.

Re-search allows you to search your remaining deck and add any specific card directly to your hand. It eliminates opening hand RNG by pulling vital setup tools like Oxalis's Prayer or Axim Core. Because drawing a card from Re-search reduces your remaining deck by one, players must ensure their deck has at least one card remaining before activating it.

Situational Utility Skills: Rapid Charge, Reload, and Overheat

Rapid Charge returns up to three cards in hand to your deck and immediately redraws them. It removes debuffs like cost inflation from Rita or seals inflicted by Bulk. However, because it resets card states, using Rapid Charge on cards like PPP or Heavy Blow wipes out any attack increases you built up during that turn.

Reload lets you choose between one and five cards in your hand, put them back into your deck, and draw an equal number of fresh cards. It functions as a mid-turn mulligan to dig for missing combo pieces.

Overheat injects six unplayable Overload cards into your deck. Because playing cards in One Turn Kill costs card draws, running out of cards in your deck means you cannot play further actions. Overheat acts as emergency fuel to prevent decking out, though drawing those Overload cards later can stall your hand unless you run discard cards like Ferocious Claw.

Low-Priority Skills: Bomb, Revive, and Sword Summon

Bomb inflicts 30 damage directly to the opponent. While 30 damage clears early tutorial encounters, it falls off hard in higher BIAS levels where enemy health pools range from 450 to 900 HP.

Revive allows you to restart the current stage after making an error. While it acts as a safety net, choosing Revive over Double or Downclock robs you of the damage multiplication needed to defeat bosses in the first place. Sword Summon generates three Clearance cards, which only serve as basic discard targets if your deck lacks natural cycle tools.

How Do Skills Interact with Card Combos?

Skills provide the mechanical bridge needed to execute infinite and pseudo-infinite combos. By timing skill activations alongside specific card triggers, you can bypass negative mechanics and multiply your damage.

Skill Activated → Backdoor Triggered → Card Multiplied → Finisher Deployed

The Double and Backdoor Infinite Loop

Backdoor replays the effect of the last skill you triggered during the battle. When you activate Double to copy an Axim Core or Backdoor+, you can cast Backdoor to repeat the Double effect without spending an extra skill charge. This interaction allows players to duplicate cards across their hand until they hit mouse-selection limits, producing enough hand cost to strike for over 1,000 damage with a single Heavy Blow.

The Downclock Anti-Seal Technique

Bulk applies seal reservations to cards in your hand, making them unusable after you play a set number of actions. Triggering Downclock pauses Bulk's ability countdown for three actions. During these three safe plays, you can cast your essential combo setup cards, play a high-cost draw card, and eliminate Bulk before the seals activate.

Overheat and Discard Synergy

While Overload cards generated by Overheat cannot be played directly, they serve as fuel for discard engines. Cards like Ferocious Claw require you to discard a card from your hand to strike. Using Overheat supplies you with extra cards in hand and deck, ensuring your discard requirements never force you to throw away vital attacks.
